March 31

Columbia Speedway

Flyer for Show

British Car Club Midlands Centre is pleased to announce that the 2012 Carolina British Classics-VI event will be held March 31 at the Columbia Speedway.  British cars of all marques from all over the USA are invited to share the wonderful weather and historic setting.

Please post this event on your club’s web page calendar and forward this e-mail with the attached registration form to your club’s members.  Early registration ends February 29th.  Visit our web page www.bcmc.com for updates concerning the show and to view pictures from last year’s show.

We have lots of room for all who want to attend.  This year we will be merging our event with the popular Tartan Day South festival being held at the Columbia Speedway. The speedway is an historic “vintage” track from the early days of NASCAR racing. There will be lots of interesting and entertaining diversions throughout the day and a variety of merchandise and food vendors. A separate parking area is available for trailers.
Entry fee to the festival is complementary for drivers of cars registered in the show and half price ($5.00 estimated based on last year’s festival) for passengers of exhibited cars.

As always, this is a charity event, with a portion of proceeds going to local charities.  We will also have a 50-50 raffle and silent auction.  Last year we were able to make meaningful contributions to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society and South Carolina Mental Health Association.

Featured marque: The MINI Cooper, both classic and modern, is the featured marque this year and we invite all the MINI clubs to be well represented.  Of course, we hope all the clubs in GA, NC, TN, and SC will be well represented and we greatly appreciate all the individuals and clubs who participate!

Directions:  To get to the Columbia Speedway from I-26, take Exit 116 - Charleston Highway/Hwy 176/321 - go North approximately 1.9 miles and then turn right into the speedway parking lot.  Signs will direct you to the entrance for car show participants (which will be different than the entrance for festival goers not participating in the car show).

We look forward to seeing you on show day!

Featured Marque: Triumph Spitfire

We hope you will join us for our 25th British Car Gathering. It’s an opportunity for individuals who are committed to the enjoyment and preservation of British cars and bikes to relax in the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and share their passions and experiences with fellow enthusiasts.

Plan on attending Friday night hospitality – a time to mix, mingle and eat barbeque. Saturday will offer a popular choice show, member-led drives through the foothills, trophy presentation, and door prizes. Dinner at the Carriage House Restaurant will cap the day’s activities.

As last year, there will be a class for British bikes, a ‘For Sale’ corral and Most Outstanding Vehicle Award (Chosen by BBC members). Again this year, we will have a "Modified" class for vehicles that have been significantly modified - engine swap, supercharger, custom bodywork, race cars, etc. There will be one class for modified vehicles, regardless of make or model. Entry into this class will be at the discretion of the owner.

Classes and awards will be based on pre-registration ----- please register early. Trophies awarded as follows: 3 registrations are required to have a 1st place award; 4 registrations are required to have 1st and 2nd place awards; and 5 registrations are required to have 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. If there are enough entries, trophies will be awarded in the "modified" class.

Vendors include Little British Car Company and Advance Auto-Wire.

Gathering is held on the grounds of the Talley Ho Inn, Their address is 8314 State Hwy 73; Townsend, Tennessee 37882; 865-448-2465 (when calling for reservations mention that you are with the car show)
